OPENING OUR DOORS TO THE NEXT GENERATION OF ENGINEERS

Last week (Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th September), we joined hundreds of companies across the UK in welcoming several local schools to our factory as part of National Manufacturing Day.

For the second year in a row, our team prepared a range of presentations and hands-on demonstrations to inspire the next generation of engineers.

Students from Lincoln UTC, Boston Grammar School, Boston High School, Cowley Academy and Haven High Academy were able to sit in a ‘gaming’ cab which our team created using a trencher cab, they got close up with the latest CT12 crawler truck and learned how the Human Form Recognition safety feature works and also took part in an experiment looking at electro-hydraulics principles.

“We were delighted to support National Manufacturing Day again and have the chance to open our doors to local schools and show off what we do here at Mastenbroek,” says Christopher Pett, commercial director. “National Manufacturing Day gives us an opportunity to interact with students, teachers and career advisors as part of their visit. As a leader in our field, we rely on the skills of our team and ensuring that we continuously welcome new people into the industry is key to the company’s future success.”

This year’s National Manufacturing Day had something for all age groups, from younger students making subject choices to school leavers and more experienced workers looking at the possibilities of a career in manufacturing.

National Manufacturing Day is organised by Make UK, which represents 20,000 companies of all sizes, from start-ups to multi-nationals, across engineering, manufacturing, technology and the wider industrial sector.
